The A1134 ring road follows Trumpington Road through the south-east of central Cambridge. The road starts at the junction of Trumpington Street with Lensfield Road and ends where Trumpington High Street (the A1309) meets Long Road. Fen Causeway branches off to the west not far from the northern end, which crosses Coe Fen and the Cam.

Schools and gardens

A number of schools are based here, including The Leys School and St Faith's School, together with a sixth-form college and a preparatory school linked to The Perse School. The Cambridge University Botanic Garden lies on the east side.

Hobson's Conduit

The northern part of the road runs beside Hobson's Conduit, which used to be an important source of water for Cambridge. A big fire in 1849 led to a new fountain for the conduit's Market Place branch, put up in 1855. In 1856 the older structure was relocated to the Lensfield Road corner, where it was re-erected as a monument to Thomas Hobson.

The A1309

The A1309 number disappears in the city centre and reappears to the south, along the Trumpington Road stretch of the ring road, before continuing as Trumpington High Street.
