At the northern end it meets Pembroke Street on one side and Downing Street on the other, and in the south it ends at a T-junction with Lensfield Road. Fitzwilliam Street leads west towards the Fitzwilliam Museum.

Colleges and the Downing Site

Pembroke College occupies the western side near the top of the road, while Downing College takes the eastern side further south. The Downing Site, a main base for University departments, lies on the east at the northern end. The Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology stands on that site, at the north-eastern end of the road.

University buildings

Other buildings along the road include the Hopkins Building, home of Biochemistry, built in 1924, and the Department of Pathology of 1927. The Judge Business School went up between 1991 and 1995. Tennis Court Terrace, a cul-de-sac, leads off to the east, and Peterhouse owns the terraced houses in it.
