Wolfson College
A graduate and mature-student college with no High Table, a 24-hour library and gardens that open to the public in summer.
The A603 route south-west out of Cambridge towards the M11, passing Wolfson College and a string of sports grounds.
The A603 leaves Cambridge to the south-west along Barton Road, a major arterial route to Junction 12 of the M11. Close to the city the A603 swings away north-east under the name Newnham Road, and Barton Road itself runs on only as a minor approach to the car park by Sheep's Green and Coe Fen. In the other direction it passes over the M11 and becomes Cambridge Road, on the way to the village of Barton.
Wolfson College is on the north side, a little west of Grange Road. Newnham ward lies to the north of the road and Newnham Croft to the south. The Red Bull, a pub at number 11, is on the road, and the brick-built St Mark's Church, designed by R. Philip Day, dates from 1902-03.
Grantchester Road leaves the south side opposite Wolfson and runs to the village of Grantchester; Grantchester Meadows is on that side of the city. A cluster of sports grounds lies off the road to the south: Cambridge Rugby Football Ground, where the city's rugby union club plays, Trinity New Field, and the grounds of Pembroke College and, beyond it, St Catharine's College. Gonville and Caius College has its sports ground at the road's eastern end.
