East Road
A dual carriageway on the inner ring road, home to Anglia Ruskin's Cambridge campus and the round Crown Court.
East Road is a dual carriageway on the east side of the city, numbered A603 and part of the inner ring road. It starts beside Parker's Piece, where Parkside, Mill Road and Gonville Place all meet. At the opposite end a roundabout ties it to Elizabeth Way, carrying the ring road northwards, and to Newmarket Road, the route out of the city to the east.
Anglia Ruskin University
Anglia Ruskin University has its Cambridge campus on East Road, on the stretch beyond Mill Road. Visitors can go into the Ruskin Gallery, which belongs to the School of Art there.
Courts
The Cambridge County Court is also on the road, and since 2004 the distinctive round Crown Court has stood at number 83.
Getting about
East Road has no shopping parade of its own, but it leads straight to Mill Road and its independent shops at the Parker's Piece end. As part of the ring road it is busy with traffic, so most visitors come on foot from the centre, using the Piece as a landmark, or for the university and courts.
