Millworks
A riverside restaurant in The Watermill, with a restored mill wheel and a charcoal oven.
Millworks is a restaurant in The Watermill on Newnham Road, overlooking the old millpond on the Granta. Its website calls it modern and vibrant, and describes the restored mill wheel as the centrepiece of the room.
The cooking
The kitchen emphasises fish and meat cooked in a charcoal oven, with steaks and fresh fish alongside small plates and feasts for sharing. The restaurant describes the food as fresh and local. Sunday roasts are promoted as a house speciality, and the site suggests them as a lunch after a country pub walk. There is a separate room for parties, which the restaurant says can host groups of up to 120 people. A "Punt & Dine" offer is also advertised.
Part of a group
Millworks is run by the Cambscuisine company, which also operates the Cambridge Chop House and several pubs in the surrounding villages, including the Cock at Hemingford, the Tickell Arms at Whittlesford, the Crown & Punchbowl at Horningsea, the Royal Oak at Barrington and the Three Horseshoes at Madingley.
