Margaret's is a modern British bistro at 18 Chesterton Road. It presents itself as the younger sibling of Restaurant Twenty-Two, which the bistro's website calls Michelin-starred, and says its name comes from a regular of that restaurant.
The food
The cooking is produce-led, with a seasonal set menu and a menu meant to be shared. The restaurant says it uses ingredients from suppliers as close to Cambridge as possible, plans each dish to keep waste to a minimum, and changes dishes regularly. Part of the menu is chef's choice, with set dishes depending on what ingredients arrive that day. Separate sample menus are published for lunch, the main evening menu and Sunday lunch, though the site warns they are not always the current menus and asks guests to email for an up-to-date copy.
Visiting
Opening times on the website are Monday 5.30 to 10.30 pm; Tuesday to Friday 12 to 4 pm and 5.30 to 10.30 pm; Saturday 12 to 10.30 pm; and Sunday 12 to 5.30 pm. A licensing rule means all guests must leave by 10.30 pm. Reservations and gift cards are handled through the website.
