Local's tip

The online shop is only a sample of the stock, so ask the shop if you want a particular item.

Nomads is a family-run gift shop at 5 King's Parade, close to King's College. Its website calls it an Aladdin's cave on the Parade, and the stock is the sort that fits the description: handpicked items from India and Nepal, with finds that change with the seasons and with the owners' travels.

What you will find

The shop lists silver jewellery, singing bowls, Tibetan boxes and soft block-printed textiles among its lines, along with one-of-a-kind pieces that are not repeated. The shop says the items are chosen for the stories they carry as well as for how they look, and presents the whole as a celebration of craftsmanship and culture.

Online and by message

The website carries a small online shop, but it is described by the shop as more of a shop window than a full catalogue. Short videos give a view inside. The shop also takes orders and sends photographs by phone, WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook, which helps if you have left Cambridge and want something you saw.

Practical notes

Opening hours on the shop's own site are Monday to Saturday from ten until half past six, and Sunday from half past eleven until half past five. The shop says it will sometimes offer a glass of mint tea to visitors. The open map marks wheelchair access as limited.
