Boom Battle Bar occupies 36 St Andrew's Street, a converted shop unit on a main street in the centre. It was previously an All Bar One, which stood shut for more than a year before the new operator reopened it in December 2024. CAMRA's branch describes the ground floor as a single long bar with shelved wine behind it and a large clock hanging from the ceiling.

Games and karaoke

The venue is built around things to play. Booths for karaoke, American pool, shuffleboard and darts share the floor with augmented-reality axe throwing and darts, plus beer and prosecco pong. Bundles on the website combine game time with drinks and street food, and the bar runs happy hours, bottomless brunch sessions and seasonal party packages. Games are best booked ahead, and the terms say a booking can be lost if you turn up more than fifteen minutes late.

Practical notes

The food list covers burgers and wings, with food served until 22:00 according to CAMRA's branch. Opening hours on the bar's page are 12:00 to 00:30 on Monday to Thursday and on Sunday, and 12:00 to 01:00 on Friday and Saturday. The phone number is 01223 944281. The Grand Arcade car park is a six-minute walk, and the railway station about twenty minutes on foot.
