Cambridge Junction — Venue, Petersfield, Cambridge

Cambridge Junction

A live music and arts venue by the railway station, built in 1990 on the old Cattle Market site.

Cambridge Junction programmes live music and the performing arts from a site on Clifton Way, just south of the railway station. The main hall opened in 1990 as "The Junction", on ground that had been the city's Cattle Market. Two smaller rooms followed in 2005. (The old Corn Exchange stopped trading in 1965 as the Cattle Market site took over that role.)

The three spaces

The venue has three performance rooms:

  • Junction 1, mainly for live music, with a standing capacity given as 850. It also takes club nights and bigger-name comedians.
  • Junction 2, a seated theatre with a capacity given as 220.
  • Junction 3, a smaller multipurpose room.

Theatre, dance, music and comedy are programmed across the two smaller rooms. Capacities can change, so check with the venue if you are planning a large booking.

Practical notes

Listings and tickets are on the venue's website. The address is Clifton Way, CB1 7GX; The Light cinema is on the same road at Cambridge Leisure Park. A thirtieth-anniversary project, "Lost Nights & Love Songs", is hosted on the Capturing Cambridge website.
