The Light's Cambridge cinema is at Cambridge Leisure Park on Clifton Way. The chain's own landing page lists Cambridge among the places where it runs a cinema.

How it came to The Light

The Light began in 2007 as a small chain set up by two men with backgrounds at rival multiplex operators. In 2015 it raised £5.2 million to take over a nine-screen multiplex in Cambridge from Cineworld, which had been required to sell the site after a ruling by the Competition Commission. Clifton Way is also the address of Cambridge Junction.

The chain's approach

Every venue in the chain is fully digital, which lets it show live theatre, opera, music and sport as well as films, and each has a café-bar. The chain aims to mix mainstream and independent titles, and to schedule films in languages that match local communities. The chain also offers regular screenings with audio description, subtitles, and sessions designed for people living with dementia or autism. A "Premiere" card gives subscribers cinema entry for a flat monthly fee. These are chain-wide descriptions, so check the Cambridge listings for what is actually on.

Practical notes

The cinema's own website carries showtimes and ticket booking, and asks visitors to choose their local cinema on arrival.
