Raja is an Indian restaurant and takeaway at 60 King Street. Its website says its recipes are home recipes passed down over generations, and that the menu puts creative twists on classic Indo-British curries such as masala and madras.

The story

According to the restaurant's about page, its founder arrived in Cambridge in 2004 looking for a new challenge, after growing up in a family that ran Indian restaurants across the Scottish Highlands, from the 1970s onward. The restaurant says the family had more than twenty branches in Scotland by the year 2000, reaching as far as the Isle of Lewis and the Isle of Skye. The King Street restaurant is described as the biggest success of the founder's career.

What to expect

The restaurant describes itself as "full of character", with personal touches that nod to the history of the curry. Customer reviews quoted on the site mention Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine, comfortable booths, a refurbished interior with lower windows, and a popular takeaway; one reviewer calls it expensive but tasty. These are the restaurant's own selection of reviews.
