The Tram Depot
A cask-and-craft bar in the old stables and offices of the horse tramways.
The Tram Depot is at 5 Dover Street, just off East Road and a short walk from Parker's Piece. The building was once the stables and offices of the Cambridge street horse tramways, which ran from 1880 to 1914, and the interior keeps a few quiet nods to that past.
Beer and drink
The bar's own website lists six cask ales, four craft beers on keg, three draught ciders, three lagers and a craft stout, plus cocktails, wine and spirits. the CAMRA listing describes a larger remodelling under its current owner, Everards, and the brewery's Derby brewpub has supplied guest beers. A survey in 2018 found a dining end and a lower section that keeps a mostly tiled floor. There is also a sunny terrace.
Events and food
The venue puts on a broad programme: music nights, murder-mystery evenings, reggae and Latino nights, a monthly folk night and a weekly speakeasy jazz jam. The pub's website says to check its social media for the current listings. Pizza and pies are served all day, every day. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the bar.
