The Burleigh Arms stands at 9-11 Newmarket Road and began in the 1820s as the brewery tap of the Star Brewery. The pub's own history page says the brewery was bought from James Burleigh and flourished until 1972. That year it was closed by Tolly Cobbold, and the neighbouring brewery land was later redeveloped for housing.

Inside

There are two bars. The right-hand side is laid out for dining, while the left is more of a traditional drinkers' room, though food is available on both. Wooden floors on two levels, rugs and panelled walls give a smart finish, and framed posters of old Star Brewery bottle labels hang on the drinkers' side. A patio garden lies behind. Beers, cask and keg alike, come mostly from Brewpoint, the Wells & Co brewery. The pub's website shows it as featured on the Top50GastroPubs.com list.

Practical notes

CAMRA's branch records that a new licensee took over in May 2024, and that the pub is shut on Monday and Tuesday. Its website gives food service as Wednesday and Thursday from 12:00 to 15:00 and again from 17:30 to 21:00, Friday and Saturday 12:00 to 15:00 and 17:00 to 21:00, and Sunday 12:00 to 16:30. Booking is online, and the phone number is 01223 375682. The site does not publish drinking hours, so none are given in the listing above.
