Architect
An Everards pub on Castle Street, once the County Arms, with a small courtyard behind.
Architect stands at 43 Castle Street, facing Shire Hall across the road. It is a mock-Tudor building and carried the name County Arms before it became Architect. The freehold belongs to Everards, the Leicestershire brewer, whose own pub-finder page lists it among its houses.
Inside
The bar was refitted in an updated style, and the main drinking area sits on a single level, with a large accessible toilet. At the rear, a snug corner was rearranged to open onto a small courtyard that is partly under cover. When CAMRA's local branch last surveyed the pub, the cask line-up was two Everards beers, with three ciders alongside.
Food and practical notes
Fish and chips and pie and mash dominate the kitchen's offer. CAMRA's branch records a Monday closure and opening from noon on the other six days, with last orders at 22:30 from Tuesday to Thursday, later on Friday and Saturday, and an earlier finish on Sunday. The pub's own listing on the Everards site gives the telephone number, 01223 563779, but no hours, so check before a special trip.
