The Baron of Beef is on Bridge Street in central Cambridge. It is a Grade II listed building, and the pub's own description says its story reaches back to 1752. Greene King runs it.

What to expect

The company's page describes a traditional pub with a full food menu, from burgers and steaks to smaller plates. Live sport is shown on the big screens, and there are live music and karaoke nights, so check the events calendar before a visit if you want a quiet drink. Dogs are welcome.

A pub with a few stories

Local lore includes an alleged quarrel here between two early home-computer pioneers, later dramatised in the BBC Four programme Micro Men (2009). The pub's own text says it has been visited by pop-culture figures.

Hours on the Greene King page are noon to 23:00 Monday to Thursday, noon to 00:30 on Friday and Saturday, and noon to 22:30 on Sunday.
