The Carpenters Arms is a corner pub at 184-186 Victoria Road, dating from the nineteenth century. It nearly vanished: in 2011 a planning inspector refused to let it be converted into homes, and it stayed a pub. Several changes of licensee followed until December 2017, when it joined the pizza, pots and pints side of the Charles Wells company (now trading as Wells & Co).

Rebuilt and reopened

Extension work and a thorough reshaping opened up the interior and moved the bar to one side. The pub reopened on 5 April 2018. Hand pumps serve Charles Wells and Brewpoint beers. In the kitchen, a stone oven bakes the pizzas and pots that make up most of the food, and Sunday roasts were being served until four o'clock when CAMRA's branch last surveyed it. The company's own pub listing calls it "a hidden Cambridge gem with a cracking garden and a relaxed community vibe".

Practical notes

Opening hours and a phone number aren't listed here. The Wells & Co listing links to the pub's own website, carpentersarmscambridge.com, which is the place to confirm times before a visit.
