The Geldart
A two-bar corner pub with a glass piano, vinyl menus and a CAMRA Pub of the Year award.
The Geldart is a big corner pub at 1 Ainsworth Street. Its theme is cinema and music: memorabilia fills every wall, a glass piano is on display, the handpumps imitate instruments, and the dining menus are printed on twelve-inch vinyl records. Local painters hang their work in the rooms.
Two bars and a patio
One bar is set aside for drinkers, on the left as you enter. The bigger room on the other side serves mostly diners and private functions. A walled patio garden lies behind.
Food and drink
Eight beers are on in the drinkers' bar. Visiting beers come from small breweries around the country, and one is always dark. Malt whiskies and rums are also stocked. Home cooking includes hot-rock dishes in both bars, and among the bar snacks is biltong made from beef that grazed on Midsummer Common. Live music is staged here too.
Recognition
The Cambridge & District branch of CAMRA chose the Geldart as its 2023 Pub of the Year and gave it the City LocAle Pub award in 2025. Punch Pubs & Co is listed as the owner.
