Mill Road Winter Fair
The Mill Road Winter Fair, held on the first Saturday in December since 2005, with music, folk dancing and open days at the road's places of worship.
What it is
Mill Road, which runs through Petersfield and Romsey, is the setting for an annual fair in December. There is a shop window display contest, live music, folk dancing and a local history walk. Open days are held at the churches, temple and mosque along the road.
History
Attendance at the first fair, in 2005, was 10,000. It reached at least 20,000 in 2009, and from then on a section of the road, taking in the bridge, is shut to vehicles while the fair runs.
When it usually happens
The fair falls on the first Saturday in December. The Mill Road Winter Fair organisers publish the programme.
