Cambridge Festival
The Cambridge Festival, a University of Cambridge programme of talks, films, exhibitions and walks, successor to the Science Festival begun in 1994 and held in March.
What it is
The Cambridge Festival is run by the University of Cambridge and mixes online, on-demand and in-person events about the research carried out at the University. The programme includes free talks, films, exhibitions, walks and family events.
History
The festival grew from the Cambridge Science Festival, which University scientists started in 1994 with the backing of local businesses. Its model was National Science Week, and its aim was to open up science and engineering to the public. A later decision merged it with the Cambridge Festival of Ideas, and the combined Cambridge Festival made its debut in March 2021.
When it usually happens
The Science Festival was typically held in March, and the Cambridge Festival has also taken place in March. The University publishes booking details and dates at the Cambridge Festival website.
